Big Bend Landscaping provides only the strongest and healthy plants that are hand-picked from all over South Georgia and North Florida. When we secure selected plants and shrubs, we hold them in our own private nursery on our property. Since the plants we carry are of superior quality, they are held in reserve for our landscaping clients and are not available to the general public. The plant nursery area and plants are maintained by our landscape operations expert and nursery manager, Steven Bivins, who has the responsibility of plant selection, care, and maintenance. Steven is a true horticulturist and is very knowledgeable in a wide array of plants that do well in the Tallahassee area and which ones will enhance a landscape. Steven knows the best plants that will either attract or repel wild-life in your area. Such as attracting butterflies to your yard, or repelling deer from eating your plants.
An essential part of our business is the design of a client’s landscape plan. An integral part of that plan is the selection of appropriate plants and shrubs that will do well in the selected location while enhancing the property. In the design process, in concert with our landscape designer, our nursery manager recommends appropriate plantings for a particular area. Plants that will flourish are hearty and proper. When the desired plant selection is complete, our nursery manager then goes to the vendors that can supply us with plants that are of a quality that we demand. These plants are then delivered to our private nursery, identified by the client and set up for installation at the appropriate time. In the meantime, these plants get the proper care to ensure that the quality is maintained.
Proper preparation of the soil and grading for planted areas is critical for plants to flourish. We go to great lengths to make sure that the groundwork is done correctly at the time of planting. By ensuring that soil is prepared, an ideal watering system is installed, drainage is put in place that will perform as required and a pleasant visual ambiance is achieved, we can meet your planned expectations.
